Last week's 'Your Week' spoke about outdoor parties and summer barbecues. Now for some of us, including me, being invited to BBQs and social gatherings presents me with a bit of a problem, as I know how much I like my burgers and hot dogs from the charcoal. How do you stay on track when you go out? Let me know!
How do I stay calm while entertaining? Well, I tend not to entertain that much in our house, we prefer to go out. But if I do, I will search through Weight Watchers recipes or pick naturally low fat casseroles or meat and two veg. If I was going out, I will look at the menu of the restaurant or try to think what I can take with me to a friend's house to make it easier for me to stay on track. After all, it means too much to me to slip up during the week. If that doesn't work, I will enjoy the night out and then draw a line under it. What's my healthy go-to recipe for friends? Usually, my go-to food item is chicken. I may cook it in a tomato sauce or cook it as a casserole with a lot of vegetables. If I wanted to do a pie, then it's filo pastry all the way with yummy meat and veg in the sauce. I also do a mean quorn bolognese with a ton of mushrooms, peppers and chopped tomatoes. I am not a vegetarian, but I find quorn mince a life saver when it comes to saving SPs. How do I resist food temptation? Simple. I keep fighting. I remind myself how far I have come (I've lost 30lbs so far), and I may pick a food with a certain low SP value from the table to make me feel that I have been part of the proceedings. Sometimes I do allow myself the odd day off here and there, and that has helped me so far. Overwhelmed from hosting duties? I take people out instead. Nandos is a favourite as there is a load of reasonable SP value foods for about 13 SP if you are disciplined enough during the day. What do I do to stay on track? Forget about it, and it seems to come more naturally. I find if you are stressing about every little thing that you put in your mouth, then you are less likely to succeed. I have started to not stress about it, remember my goals, and go with the flow! Sorry for the lateness of last week's blog, and this week's 'Your Week' will be posted shortly. Happy Weight Watching! :)
